UGANDA CUP: EXPRESS SET FOR UGANDA CUP R16 CLASH AGAINST RED DEVO

Stanbic Uganda Cup Round of 16 action returns under the floodlights on Friday, 20th March 2026, as Express FC host Northern regional side Red Devo FC at the Hamz Stadium Nakivubo. Kick-off is scheduled for 7:00 PM.

The Red Eagles, have shown resilience throughout this year’s campaign which began in Pakwach where they faced Pakwach Young Stars in a tightly contested fixture. A crucial equalizer from Henry Wamala in the 87th minute of the game forced the match into a penalty shootout, where Express advanced to the round of 32

In the Round of 32, the boys put up a spirited fight against Ntugasaze FC at the Kira Road Police Arena. Goals from Ssenyonga Mikdadi and Henry Wamala in each half secured a convincing 2-0 victory giving a ticket to the Red Eagles in the last 16.

Friday’s encounter will mark the second Uganda Cup meeting between Express FC and Red Devo FC. Their most recent clash came in the previous edition, where Express traveled to Amorata and edged the hosts 1-0, courtesy of an early strike from Steven Timothy Ssenfuma.

The boys come to this fixture with confidence following an impressive 3-1 victory over URA FC in the Startimes Uganda Premier League. The result provides a timely boost as we pursue a place in the quarterfinals

We have been preparing for this fixture very well and the camp is in good spirits to fight for the badge. We are to treat this fixture just like any other and not take it for granted. We shall put up a strong performance so as we qualify to the next round. I call upon our dear fans to come in big numbers and rally behind the boys.

Midfielder Elvis Ssekajugo will be available for selection after missing out on the tie against Ntugasaze in the round of 32. And the rest of the squad is available as we no any injuries as per the team doctors report.

As players, we are ready to put up a good show come tomorrow so that we can walk away with the maximum points and hence qualify to the quarterfinals. I argue our 12th player I mean our dear fans to turn up in big numbers and we give them the best Eid celebration.

As record holders of the competition with 10 titles, Express FC will be aiming to extend their legacy by progressing further in the tournament. With momentum on their side and home support behind them, the Red Eagles will be determined to soar high into the quarterfinals.
